Company History

Our company was founded as Paraqaud Services in 1988, but was renamed and rebranded as The Specialty Nurse Company in 2013.

The Para/Quad Legacy – Para/Quad Services (PQSI) was established by Thomas R. Frazier in 1988 after his son, (J.D.) was injured on the job. J.D. fell from a ladder and fractured vertebrae at the 4th and 5th cervical level and transected his spinal cord further resulting in permanent paralysis from the neck down.

Through the years, J.D. Frazier has carried on his father’s legacy and has served as President and CEO of PQSI for over 25 years. In addition to his many duties at PQSI, Mr Frazier holds a Masters Degree in Conflict Management and numerous certifications including facilitation, mediation, arbitration, eldercare, and special needs. He is the governor’s appointed volunteer chair of the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission; elected Treasurer of the Georgia Association of Community Care Providers, and elected President of Metro Fair Housing Services, Inc., a 35-year non-profit civil rights organization. In 2012, the Georgia Council on Development and Disabilities honored Mr. Frazier with their Lifetime Achievement Award for his volunteer work in accessible housing.

In 2012, the company changed its name to “The Specialty Nurse Company”, and has expanded services to include a Senior Care Division, a Case Specific Orientation Program (CSOP) and the establishment of a community outreach program called the J.D. Frazier Initiatives, which provides a variety of services to clients and the general public.
